Spinning Jenny
Can the sacrifice of seams lead to 3-dimensional production?
We experimentally developed a 3-Dimensional method to produce fashion. By developing this new process, we not only created a new manufacturing technology, but also designed an independent, new aesthetic. In this new technique, ropes are wound around 3-Dimensional forms, joined and cured with different adhesives.
Steel tubes are used as the basic elements of the moulds, which allow a spatial shaping of the garments. After connecting the ropes, the steel tubes are removed and the products become a selfstabilizing framework. Seams are thus replaced by wrapped tubes and build a selfstabilizing skeleton construction.
